• There can be only 5 Crab licenses sold/transferred every year through a lottery only. You have to pay $1000.00, just to get into the lottery to sell the license, which you don’t get back.

• All crab pots are hand-made to exact specifications and have escape openings so all the small crab can get out.

• There are miles of protected fishing areas to protect the crab from being overfished.

• All crab that are caught are reported and there is a ‘landing fee’ that is paid.

• Everyone on the boat has to have a commercial fishing license.

• Each crab has to be of legal size to keep.
